Senior Backend Engineer

HumDov is a community and ministry management platform serving churches and organisations across Nigeria and beyond.

You'll own the core backend and lead the build-out of our AI Mission Engine, an agentic system powering intelligent member follow-up and pastoral care workflows.

What this role requires:
- 5+ years of backend engineering experience with deep Python expertise

- Production experience with FastAPI and/or Django/DRF

- Hands-on LLM integration experience in provider APIs, prompt engineering, context management and agentic systems in real production environments

- A track record shipping AI-driven features with real attention to latency, cost and reliability

- Strong understanding of WebSockets and real-time systems

- Solid working knowledge of Redis, PostgreSQL and async task management
- Infrastructure ownership across Docker, Kubernetes and CI/CD

Good to have:
- Vector databases, RAG pipelines or agent orchestration frameworks
- AI observability and eval tooling
- React/TypeScript for occasional frontend collaboration
- SaaS or community product experience
