Overview
We are seeking a highly disciplined and commercially astute Procurement Officer to support the transport arm of our downstream oil and gas operations. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the end-to-end procurement of vehicle parts, lubricants, fuel-related components, maintenance materials, and other operational requirements critical to fleet efficiency and uptime.
This role requires strong market knowledge, cost control discipline, and a high level of integrity, given the sensitivity and volume of procurement activities within transport operations.
Key Responsibilities
• Manage procurement of truck spare parts, tyres, batteries, lubricants, and workshop consumables.
• Source, evaluate, and negotiate with vendors to achieve cost efficiency without compromising quality.
• Ensure timely availability of materials to prevent fleet downtime.
• Maintain an updated vendor database and pricing benchmarks for transport-related items.
• Conduct market surveys to validate pricing and prevent over-invoicing or procurement irregularities.
• Work closely with workshop and transport managers to forecast demand and plan purchases.
• Prepare purchase orders, track deliveries, and verify supplied items against specifications.
• Ensure compliance with company procurement policies and audit requirements.
• Monitor stock levels and coordinate with storekeeping for inventory control.
• Prepare procurement reports and cost analysis for management review.
Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Logistics, or related field.
• Minimum of 3–5 years’ procurement experience in the downstream oil & gas sector, preferably within transport or fleet operations.
• Strong knowledge of truck components and maintenance requirements (e.g., fuel pumps, tyres, batteries, engine parts).
• Proven negotiation and vendor management skills.
• High level of integrity, accountability, and attention to detail.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP systems.
• Ability to meet tight operational deadlines.
