Job Summary
The General Manager, Construction is responsible for providing strategic leadership and operational oversight for all construction activities across the company’s development portfolio. The role ensures that projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with approved quality standards, regulatory requirements, and company objectives.

 

Key Responsibilities
• Provide overall leadership and strategic direction for all construction operations and project delivery activities.
• Oversee the execution of construction projects from pre-construction planning through completion and handover.
• Ensure alignment of construction activities with the company’s development timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
• Review project plans, cost estimates, construction methodologies, and timelines to ensure feasibility and efficiency.
• Ensure proper coordination between design teams, project managers, contractors, and consultants.
• Ensure contractors adhere to agreed project specifications, quality standards, and safety requirements.
• Conduct regular project review meetings with consultants and contractors to monitor performance.
• Oversee project budgets, cost tracking, and expenditure management.
• Work closely with the finance and procurement teams to control costs and ensure efficient allocation of resources.
• Ensure implementation of health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies across all project sites.
• Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with occupational safety standards.
• Investigate site incidents and ensure corrective measures are implemented.
• Lead and mentor the construction management team, including project managers, site engineers, and technical staff.
• Promote accountability, performance excellence, and continuous professional development within the construction team.

 

Qualifications & Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Building Technology, or related discipline.
• A master’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or Business Administration (MBA) is an advantage.
• Minimum of 10–15 years’ experience in construction management, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
• Extensive experience managing large-scale real estate developments or infrastructure projects.
• Strong knowledge of construction methodologies, project management frameworks, and cost control systems.
• Professional membership with relevant bodies such as COREN, NSE, NIOB, or PMI is an advantage.
