About Flutterwave

Flutterwave was founded on the principle that every African must be able to participate and thrive in the global economy. To achieve this objective, we have built a trusted payment infrastructure that allows consumers and businesses (African and International) make and receive payments in a convenient border-less manner.

The Role

  • We are looking for a Fraud Desk Analyst to join our team and help protect Flutterwave and our customers from fraud, working alongside business partners and internal teams.
  • This is a hands-on, round-the-clock role.
  • You will monitor and investigate transactions as they happen, act quickly on suspicious activity, and help us keep payments safe, so that legitimate customers and businesses can transact with confidence.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to

  • Monitor transactions and fraud alerts in real time to detect suspicious or unusual activity
  • Review and investigate flagged transactions and accounts, and take action (such as holding, blocking or releasing) in line with fraud policies and procedures
  • Escalate complex or high-risk cases to senior team members and relevant internal teams
  • Document investigation findings and maintain accurate case records
  • Handle fraud-related inquiries from customers, merchants and internal teams
  • Identify fraud trends and patterns, and share insights to help improve detection rules and processes
  • Prepare reports on fraud activity and case outcomes for review by senior team members
  • Perform any other duties assigned.

Required competency and skill set

  • Bachelor’s Degree with 1-2 years of experience in fraud monitoring, risk, transaction monitoring or payments operation
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to review data, spot patterns and make sound decisions quickly
  • Ability and willingness to work weekends and night shifts, as the role requires round-the-clock coverage
  • Strong attention to detail and clear written and verbal communication
  • Ability to work as part of a team and contribute to projects.

You’ll love this  job if you:

  • Have an intellectual curiosity about payments, technology and how fraud works
  • Quickly understand customer use cases and requirements
  • Stay calm and make good decisions under pressure
  • Can work with cross-functional teams to resolve issues
  • Manage proactive and reactive tasks effectively
  • Are a self-driven, passionate goal-getter
  • Are passionate about process improvements
  • Embrace managing multiple activities at once
  • Are comfortable with ambiguity and the constant change of a startup experiencing hyper growth.
